Richard Allen Rogers

Richard Allen Rogers, age 79, of Waynesboro, Tennessee, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026, at home, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

Richard was born in Savanna, Illinois, to the late Bernard Rogers and Marjorie Eadie. He was the oldest of four brothers and carried with him throughout his life a strong sense of responsibility, dedication, and love for those closest to him.

On February 8, 1969, Richard joined the love of his life, Kathleen Taylor, in marriage. Together, they built a life centered around hard work, family, and love while raising their three children.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy, including two tours in Vietnam. During his military service, he worked as a construction superintendent, contributing to the building of bridges and bunkers.

His family describes Richard as a having a Love for God that was so important to him, it was evident in the servant's heart he had. it brought him joy to do things for others.  He was focused on the important things in life and always worked to provide stability and a better future for his family. With a strong Type-A personality and a remarkable work ethic, Richard taught his children the value of responsibility, dedication, and perseverance. 

Yet, beyond his hardworking nature, Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make others laugh. What his family cherished most was the love and the smiles he shared so freely with his wife, children, grandchildren, and others throughout his life.

Richard enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and he treasured going to the movies and making memories with his family playing computer and card games.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Kathleen Rogers; one son, Matthew Rogers (Glenna) of Cleveland, Tennessee; two daughters, Tracy Nicholl (Jeff) of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Angel Locke (Bryan Holzworth) of Waynesboro, Tennessee.

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Kara Lokrantz (Chase), Callie Marlof (Jake), Caden Nicholl, Isaac Locke (Winter), Joel Locke (Kelcie), Michael Rogers, and Marc Rogers; four great-grandchildren; his siblings Mark Rogers (Rae) and Kurt Rogers (Diana Witanski); a host of nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Steven Rogers and Ronnie-Lee Rogers.

The family is honoring Richard's wishes for cremation. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Richard's legacy will live on through the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, the stability he provided, and most importantly, the love he gave so freely to his family.
