Rickey Overton

Rickey Overton, 58, of Bolivar, departed this life Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

The husband of Janie Goodrum Overton, who survives, he worked as a sawyer since 1976. He was born August 13, 1958 in Bolivar, to M. E. Overton, who preceded him in death and Faye Vandiver Overton of Bolivar, who survives. He married Janie Goodrum on December 23, 1975 and had lived in Hardeman County all of his life. His hobbies included hunting, farming and horse-logging and he enjoyed getting on his tractor and working outside. His greatest fulfillment came from being around his family, whom he dearly loved and spending time with his 3 grandsons. Mr. Overton attended Walnut Grove Baptist Church and Abundant Life Christian Fellowship Church.

In addition to his wife and his mother, survivors include two daughters, April Overton of Bolivar and Amy Cleek (Andy) of Middleton; a son, Brian Overton of Hornsby; a sister, Sandra Overton Richie (Michael) of Bolivar; a brother, Greg Overton (Sheila) of Bolivar; and three grandsons, Jeremy & Colton Cleek and Jonathan Overton. The family requests memorial donations in his name be made to Walnut Grove Cemetery Fund.
