Rickie Wayne Smith was born on December 19, 1959, in Jackson, Tennessee, to the late Willard E. and Fannie Verneal Hurst Smith.
On May 23, 1975, Rickie married the love of his life, Debbie King. They shared many years together, building a life filled with family, memories, and love. Debbie preceded him in death on April 3, 2025.
Rickie called the little community of McNairy in Bethel Springs, Tennessee, home for his entire life. He was a familiar face, a hardworking man, and someone who took pride in his family, his work, and his community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bethel Springs and spent 50 years behind the wheel of a truck, driving for Aqua Glass and SMC. To those who knew him on the CB radio, he was better known by his handle, "Snuffy."
Rickie found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to fish, and one of his biggest dreams was to someday own a shanty boat. He was also known for being able to barbecue the finest hog this side of McNairy County! His love for raising pigs was a hobby all its own. He would sell them off, only to turn around and buy more.
Above all, Rickie will be remembered for the life he lived, the people he loved, the stories he shared, and the memories he leaves behind. He was one of a kind, and those who knew him will surely remember his familiar ways, his love of the outdoors, and the things that made him so special.
Mr. Smith departed this life on October 29, 2026, in Enville, Tennessee, at the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 10 days. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Tanya Renee Pierce and husband Shane of Enville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Jessica Pind of Giltedge, Tennessee, Cody Pierce and wife Katie of Henderson, Tennessee, Matthew Pind of McNairy, Tennessee, and Tyler Hayden Pierce and wife Stephanie of Mifflin, Tennessee; and five great-grandchildren, Avalynn Langlinais, Jolene Jewel Pierce, Adalynn Marie Vannoller, Paisley Rae Pierce, and Callahan Clay Pierce.
He is also survived by his brother, James Ray Smith and wife Nancy; nieces and nephews, Dustin Smith, Robert Brown, Lynn, Missy, and John Smith, and Ronald Newsom, along with their families; and many other loved ones and family members who will miss him dearly.
Though Rickie is no longer with us, the memories he made, the lives he touched, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
