His commitment extended beyond personal pursuits; Rick proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for six years. He undertook two deployments to Iraq, first from 2007 to 2008, and again from 2009 to 2010. Upon his honorable discharge, Rick channeled his love for service into a career in law enforcement, starting his journey with the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office as a full-time deputy on November 8, 2011, while also contributing part-time to the Selmer Police Department. His heart was full with pride as he served his community and those around him.
Rick was a beacon of selflessness, kindness, bravery, and humility. He approached every aspect of his life with 100% commitment, striving to serve not just his country but also the community he lived in. His sense of humor brought joy to those around him, painting smiles on their faces even on the hardest days.
