Ricky Gene Smith

Ricky Gene Smith was born on February 3, 1959, in Savannah, Tennessee, the son of the late Paul Ray and Marie Brasfield Smith.

On July 19, 1999, he was united in marriage to Betty Young, who preceded her husband in death on January 6, 2022.

Mr. Smith honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard. Ricky was a very active member of Savannah Moose Lodge and the American Legion for years. He worked for Clements Concrete driving a cement truck back in the 80's and 90's. Then he went to work at Wolfe Sale (American Food) and was employed there for 32 years when his wife got sick and he took early retirement to stay home and care for her. His children looked up to him because he was a very hard worker so he could take care of his family and make sure his kids never went without. He taught his 2 daughters how to check oil and a lot more so "they would never have to depend on a man" in his words. He knew just how to make you laugh and correct you if he thought you were wrong. Ricky enjoyed boating, fishing, coon hunting, golfing, and riding four wheelers.

Ricky Gene Smith departed this life on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 67 years, 6 months, and 29 days.

He is survived by his daughters, Rachel Smith (Nikki) of Selmer, Tennessee and Leah Brooke Smith of Savannah, Tennessee; son, Rickey Gene Smith of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Pam Johnson of Adamsville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Bailee, Braden, Rylee, Jasper, Emily, Timber, Brinke, Cali, and Maverick; and great granddaughters, Zakyah and BreLynne Smith.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ricky was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Smith. He was also preceded in death by his special friend, Cheryl Wolfe, that he loved dearly and carried her picture in his pocket for over 40 years.
