Robert Chandler, age 87, passed away on March 4, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Born on January 5, 1939, in Bethel Springs, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Blaine and Della Chandler.
A man of quiet strength and skilled hands, Robert was a member of the Purdy Masonic Lodge #132 and spent many years working for the Brown Shoe Company until its closure. He later retired from Kolpak, where he worked in industrial maintenance. Through the years, he was known for his strong work ethic, steady nature, and the pride he took in everything he did.
On October 22, 1961, Robert was united in marriage to Deledith Jean Chandler. Together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family for more than sixty years, until her passing on May 30, 2023. Robert was a faithful member of Purdy Presbyterian Church and found great joy in the simple blessings of life. An avid outdoorsman, he especially loved coon hunting and treasured the many nights spent in the woods with his faithful coon dog, Chainsaw, years ago.
Robert is survived by his son, Mike Chandler, and his sister, Reba Whitley. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny B. Chandler and Arthur Lee Chandler, and his sister, Marie Brooks.
He will be remembered as a hardworking and devoted man who valued family, faith, and the outdoors, and who found peace and happiness in the woods of West Tennessee.
