Robert L. DeBerry

Mr. DeBerry passed away early Saturday morning at his home in Hornsby.



The husband of Marlene Ervin DeBerry, who survives, he was a farmer and former owner for 10 years of the Hornsby Texaco Service Station. He was born to Theodore Adolph DeBerry, Sr. and Lavenia Thomas DeBerry, both of whom preceded him in death and lived all of his life in Hornsby. He was a 1951 graduate of Bolivar Central High School and attended UT Martin and UT Knoxville. He loved to hunt, fish and travel with his wife, and made several hunting trips to Alaska and Colorado. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict in Asmara Eritrea Ethiopia as a stock control clerk. Mr. DeBerry was mayor of Hornsby for twelve years and was a charter member and former president of the Ruritan Club. He was a member of Hornsby Baptist Church.



In addition to his wife, whom he married on Feb. 21, 1954, survivors include a son and his wife, Robert D. 'Danny' and Debbie DeBerry of Bolivar; a daughter and her husband, Denise DeBerry Germino and Mark of Nashville; a grandson, Geoff Germino of Nashville; a step granddaughter, Carmen Germino of New Haven, CT; and three brothers, David Thomas DeBerry of Germantown, Gordon William DeBerry of Bolivar and Russell DeBerry of Hornsby; and various other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cora Lake and two brothers, George and T. A. DeBerry, Jr.
