ROBERT GANN
Henderson, TN: Robert Earl Gann age 77 passed away May 16, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1940 in McNairy County, the son of the late Hillard Odell and Freddie Avis Ashe Gann. He graduated from Selmer High School in 1958. He married Alice Lee Patterson on September 1, 1962.
He began working at Simmons Lumber in 1966, as a Purchasing Agent and Sales Clerk for forty years retiring in 2005. He also farmed all of his adult life, growing soybeans, cotton and milo. He also did carpentry and was a member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Estes Church of Christ having served as Deacon for many years. He was a generous man always helping anyone who needed it. He loved dogs and always kept them as pets. He loved his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing when he was able.
Mr. Gann is survived by his wife, Alice Lee Patterson Gann of Henderson; a son, Robert Tate Gann (Dana) of Henderson and a daughter, Myna Lee Gann Sain of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Miranda Lee Winslett, Madeline Charlene Sain, Cameron Seth Gann and Colin Trent Williams and a great grandchild, Sawyer Jefferson Winslett; a brother, Bill Gann (Edith) of Selah, WA; three sisters, Virginia Dixon of Bethel Springs, Louise Miller of McNairy and Pat Cates of Enville.
He is also survived by his dogs, Dexter, Inky and his cat Henry.
Robert and Alice have kept several foreign exchange students over the years with whom they stay connected with: Pascal Zumkir of Belgium, Celine Lichtensteiger of France, Annika Zuckschwerdt of Germany, Roman Dittmar of Germany, Rene Gabriel of Germany, Jan Knippen of Germany, Anne Fischer of Germany and Pierre Rousseaux of Belgium.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Odell Gann and Wayne Gann and two sisters, Lily Gann and Nancy Carroll.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Main Street Chapel with Billy Smith and Roy Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in Estes Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Main Street Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
