Robert Grantham

Robert Grantham, 86, was born on January 27, 1940, in Hornsby, Tennessee, and died on September 26, 2026, at his home in Toone, Tennessee.

Robert was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in Bolivar. He also served for three years in the National Guard. He spent his working life at Kilgore Corporation, where he was a maintenance supervisor and retired after 45 years of service.

It was at Kilgore that Robert met the love of his life, Carol. They dated for a year and were married on January 31, 1969, at his brother Kenneth’s house in Silerton. Robert and Carol shared more than 50 years of marriage together. He lived in the Hornsby area until his marriage, and in 1973 they moved to Toone, where they made their home.

Robert was a dedicated member of Cloverport Baptist Church. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was proud to help build the new church. He also served as a former treasurer there. Outside of work and church, Robert enjoyed fishing and hunting, gardening, and mowing not only his own yard but everyone else’s yards as well. He was the kind of man who stayed busy and found joy in caring for the things around him and helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Grantham; his daughter, Stacey Grantham of Toone; and his sons, Scott Grantham and Cindy of Middleton, and Chris Grantham and Lori of Ft. Mills, South Carolina. He is also survived by his sister, Marie McDonald of Middleton, and his brother, Ray Grantham and Betty of Bolivar. Robert’s grandchildren, Ethan, Eli, Brooks, and Emma Grantham, were also among those he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Grantham; his mother, Lois Hawthorne Grantham; his sisters, Pansy Thornton and Margaret Moore; and his brother, Kenneth Grantham.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Cloverport Baptist Church, 7595 Highway 138, Toone, TN 38381. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at 1:15 p.m. at Cloverport Baptist Cemetery in Cloverport.

Robert Grantham will be remembered for his steady work, his love for his family, his service to his church, and the simple kindness he showed in everyday life.  Memorials in his name may be sent to Cloverport Baptist Cemetery Fund.
