Robert Lee McKellips, Jr. was born on November 12, 1964, in Oahu, Hawaii, the son of the late Robert McKellips and Celestine Fernadez McKellips. He was one of seven children. After the family settled in Savannah, Tennessee, he worked at Aqua Glass until the factory closed. After earning his welding certificate, he worked at Thyssenkrupp for a few years before switching to Co-Op.
He was united in marriage to Sondra Dawn Milligan on January 31, 1985. They shared 40 years, two daughters, and four grandchildren together. He enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo, and bass for church. He also enjoyed working with his horses, camping with his family, fishing with the grandkids, riding his motorcycle, and teaching life skills to his daughters, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man who was all about his family and who cheered on his daughters and grandchildren in all their endeavors.
He passed away on November 30, 2025, with his wife by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Sondra. Two daughters, Laura Lee McKellips and April (Justin) Hall. Four grandchildren, Melia Treece Killingsworth, Sarah Bella Killingsworth, William Lee Killingsworth, and Wesley Kenneth Hall. Four sisters, Lenora McMeekin, Esther McKellips, Crystal (Tuffy) Christopher, and Kitty (William) McKellips. Two brothers, Thomas McKellips and Matthew McKellips. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
