Robert William Newman, Sr. was born April 25, 1942 in Bolivar, TN, the son of the late Troy Guy and Elizabeth Joella Hodge Newman.
He was united in marriage to Maudie Lou McMahan on September 1, 2008. He was an active member of the Hatchie Baptist Church in Hornsby, Tennessee. Robert was retired from Mathis Goodyear Tire. He loved his church, reading the Bible, old cars, working on his truck and drag racing.
Mr. Newman departed this life on August 1, 2015 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 73 Years, 3 Months, 7 Days.
He is survived by his wife, Maudie Lou (McMahan) Newman of Selmer, TN; two sons, Robert William Newman Jr. and Rodney Dale Newman and wife Heather all of AZ; stepchildren: Chris Lacefield and wife Jeannie of Hornsby, TN, Jason Lacefield of Adamsville, TN and Angela Lacefield of Hornsby, TN; two sisters, Reba Hopper of Memphis, TN, Nancy Bearden and husband Carroll of Iuka, MS; four grandchildren: April Baker of Hungington, TN, Keeyana Ingrams of OH, MeKenzie Rose Newman and Mason Zane Newman both of AZ; 3 great grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Newman was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Jackson and a brother, Guy Earl Newman.
