Robert Zavala

ROBERT (BOB) ZAVALAwas born in Wiergate, Texas on March 27, 1919 the son of the late Macedonio and Ladislada Munoz Zavala.On January 8, 1949 he was united in marriage to Ruby Lee Perkins, who preceded her husband in death on June 9, 1983. On May 6, 1985 he was united in marriage to Nancy Morris, who survives.Mr. Zavala retired from the United States Navy after 21 years where he was a diesel engineer. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Zavala also retired from St. Jude Children's Hospital and John Gaston Hospital. Mr. Zavala loved to fish. He departed this life on September 28, 2009 at the Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 1 day.Other than his wife, Nancy of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by one daughter, Sherry Zavala of Silsbee, Texas2 sons, Robert Zavala of Victoria, Texas and Scott Zavala of Vidor, Texas2 stepsons, Terry and Gene Dickerson, both of Savannah, Tennessee8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildrenone sister, Maria Lopez of Oxnard, California and one brother, Raymond Zavala of Beaumont, TexasMr. Zavala was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, Jesse, John, Cecil, Felix and Martin Zavala.
