Ms. Hammons passed away July 8.
The daughter of Morris 'Scooter' and Ruth Bishop, of the New Castle-Whiteville area, she worked as a florist. She was born August 16, 1957, in Fayette County and lived all of her life here. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, survivors include a son, Timothy Scott Hammons of Memphis; and two brothers, Danny Bishop and Nikkie Avent of Somerville and Timmy and Chardale Bishop of Whiteville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Bishop.
