Roger Dale Allen

Roger Dale Allen, 66, of Bolivar, departed this life Saturday, January 21, 2023, at his home.

He was born Tuesday, April 24, 1956, in Somerville, son of the late Raymond Allen and Minnie Theo Humphreys Allen, of Lamar, MS, living his early years in Benton County and was at Big Bend for 18 years. He worked as the farm manager at Big Bend for the last 22 years and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but got his greatest reward from being around his grandchildren. He married Melba Allen on January 7, 2003, and she preceded him in death on June 24, 2020. Mr. Allen was a member and former deacon at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Lamar, MS.

Survivors include a daughter, Brandy Sides (Allen) of Selmer; two sons, Tim Harris (Candace) of Slayden, MS and Chris Allen (Courtney) of Bolivar; a sister, Elizabeth Williams (Kevin) of Lamar, MS; a brother, Donnie Allen (Vickie) of Lamar, MS; his mother, Minnie Allen of Lamar, MS; and nine grandchildren who lit up his world, Madyson and Noah Harris, Matthew, Luke and Natalie Sides, Hunter, Averie, Kaylin and Kiley Allen. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Allen.
