James Roger King was born April 9, 1949 in Selmer, TN the son of the late Hubert King and Viola Elliott King.
After a long career at General Electric, Roger embraced retirement with the same enthusiasm he had for his work. Each morning, he delighted in his routine of visiting McDonald’s, followed by cozy afternoons spent enjoying classic films on Turner Classic Movies. These simple pleasures brought him joy, reflecting his gentle spirit.
A devoted father, Roger took immense pride in his family, and he adored his great-grandson Landon, whose presence brought light to his days. Roger’s kindness, love, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Roger departed this life on November 18, 2025 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 7 Months, 9 Days.
He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Stanton and husband Charles; a grandchild, Daniel Johnson; a great grandchild, Landon Johnson; two brothers, Bill King and wife Norma, John King and wife Linda; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by three sisters: Margaret Whitley, Nina Jenkins, and Mary Mathis.
