Roger Swope
Pinson: Roger Dale Swope, age 62, died Friday evening, February 4, 2011 at the emergency room of Jackson General Hospital.
Mr. Swope was born in Chester County at Henderson the son of George Franklin and Ruby Brown Swoape. He went to school in Madison County and graduated from South Side High School in 1966 and graduated from Jackson State Community College in 1981. He started to work for Sears and Roebuck in 1968 and retired in 1991. He then had his own carpet cleaning business from 1991 to 2006. He married Janie Thomas in 1966 and they made their home in Pinson. Roger loved to hunt and fish and do metal detecting. He was a member of North Side Assembly.
He is survived by his wife Janie Pearl Thomas Swope, parents; George Franklin and Ruby Brown Swoape, son Brian Swope of Memphis, daughter Crystal Michelle Doyle and husband Tim of Henderson, a sister Debbie Diggs and husband Mike of Pinson and 3 grandchildren; Austin Ray Bingham, Tyler Doyle, and Jessica Doyle.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday at Shackelford – Casey Chapel with Pastor Randy Carter officiating and burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery at Pinson.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 9 PM Sunday at Casey Chapel.
