ROMA GRAVES DENTON
Henderson, TN: Ruth Roma Long Graves Denton, age 93, died June 25, 2009 at Bethesda Healthcare in Cookeville, TN.
She was born in Walnut, MS the daughter of the late Austen Cannon and Lena Armour Long. She grew up in Chester County and attended Chester County Schools and received her G.E.D. She was married to Little Joe Graves in 1937. They made their home in Chester County. She had worked at Salant & Salant Mfg. and in the Cafeteria at Chester County High School and also at Chickasaw State Park. She was a member of the Eastern Star and had served in all the offices of the Eastern Star including being Past Worthy Matron.
Mr. Graves preceded in death in 1989. She was later married to Charlie Denton in 1991 and they made their home in Bolivar. She moved to Cookeville in 2002 to make her home with Ronald and Mary Graves. Mr. Denton preceded in death.
She was a Charter Member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Henderson most of her adult life. She was a Sunday School Teacher and a Youth Counselor at Trinity for many years.
She is survived by: two sons, Ronald S. Graves and wife Mary of Cookeville and Dennis L. Graves and wife Betty of Henderson; four grandchildren and two step grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
