Romie Pettigrew, a cherished member of the Pocahontas community, passed away on February 18, 2026, in Selmer Post Acute Care, Tennessee. Born on June 25, 1942, in Whiteville, Tennessee, Romie led a life marked by devotion, warmth, and an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of many.

For over three decades, Romie dedicated herself to her role as a line worker at Harman Automotive, showcasing an extraordinary work ethic that defined her career. She also spent 2-3 years at Dover Elevator, further contributing to her reputation as a diligent and reliable worker. But her influence extended far beyond the confines of her professional life.

Romie was a lifelong member of the Pocahontas Church of Christ, where she not only attended services but actively participated in the community's spiritual growth. Her contributions included teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, nurturing the faith of countless children. Romie was known for her thoughtfulness; her habit of sending out cards to church members during times of illness illustrated her capacity for kindness and empathy, leaving a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to receive her heartfelt messages.

As the only girl among all her first cousins, Romie held a unique place in her family's heart. She is survived by her beloved niece, Jill Pettigrew, and sister-in-law, Rhonda Pettigrew, both of Pocahontas. The love they shared with Romie, filled with laughter, memories, and support, will forever be cherished.

Romie's early years were spent with her parents, Gordon and Altie Lawson Pettigrew, and her brother, Jim Pettigrew, who have since passed away. Together they forged a foundation of love and commitment within their family, a legacy that Romie carried forward throughout her life.

Though she has departed from this world, her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. The graveside service in her honor will take place on February 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Oak Grove Independent Methodist Church Cemetery in Pocahontas, TN.
