Ronald D. Foster, 75, of Savannah, went home to be with Jesus on January 18, 2026. He was born on April 26, 1950, to Lamayone and Melvagene Foster in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a young child, he moved to St. Louis, where he remained until relocating to Cahokia, Illinois in 1965. Soon after, his life was forever changed when he met Mary. Ron, his wife, and their children remained in Cahokia until moving to Lebanon, Illinois in 1987. After thirteen years, their life journey carried them to Madrid, Iowa. In 2013, Ron and Mary settled in Savannah, Tennessee, where he remained until his passing.
Ron met Mary as a teenager while attending youth group at Centerville Baptist Church. They united as one on November 28, 1970, and were inseparable for over 50 years until Mary was called home. He was the proud father of his daughter April and son Vince, and a devoted grandfather to Kaylee, Tyler-Rae, and Rylan. He is survived by his siblings Brenda (Paul) Carroll, Ricky (Julie) Foster, Sheila Holst, Cynthia (Eddie) Hill, Kelly Berry, and Shirley (Michael) Pigg, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ron was steady, thoughtful, and deeply faithful, leaving a legacy of wisdom, humility, and quiet strength in every place he lived.
Growing up, Ron watched his father and grandfather labor in farm fields across southern Missouri and Arkansas, which sparked a lifelong interest in agribusiness. In 1999, he and Mary took a leap of faith and relocated to Iowa to work for a small company called Chemorse. He loved his Chemorse family and often said it was one of the best decisions he ever made, not only professionally, but because of the friendships and community it brought into his life. Ron remained with Chemorse until his retirement to Tennessee in 2012.
Ron committed his life to Jesus at an early age, a commitment he faithfully upheld throughout his life. His devotion was quiet and steady, rooted in scripture, prayer, and a sincere desire to know God more deeply each day. An avid reader and lifelong scholar, Ron spent countless hours studying the Word of God. With shelves full of books and binders of notes, he found great joy in learning and in sharing his knowledge. In every church he called home, Ron served as a Sunday School teacher, and he is remembered by close friends and members of Mount Hermon Baptist Church as one of the finest teachers of God’s Word they had ever known.
When not at church or studying, Ron found joy in the simple things. He loved hunting, fishing, spending time in God’s creation, and cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. In Savannah, he volunteered at Christian Assistance Ministry Food Bank, quietly serving others.
Our hearts are heavy, but we take comfort in knowing that Ron is now reunited with Mary, whole and at peace in the presence of Jesus. His life was a reflection of steady faith and quiet devotion, and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
Memorials in Ron’s honor can be made to Mount Hermon Baptist Church or Christian Assistance Ministry Foodbank of Savannah, TN.
