Ronald Lee Nield

July 10, 1947 — April 2, 2017

Mr. Nield passed from this life Sunday evening at Bolivar General Hospital.

Ron Lee Nield was born July 10, 1947 in Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland to Evelyn Louise and James Davis Nield. He passed from this life on April 2, 2017 at the age of 69, surrounded by his family.
Ron was a graduate of Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland with a B.S. in Business Administration.
He retired as a health care administrator in 2009 after spending over 30 years in the business. During his time in health care administration, he left behind a successful record of transforming struggling and failing facilities into profitable businesses. His success record includes improving clinical outcomes within facilities, improving state and facility relations, stabilizing management staff, and taking facilities from negative bottom lines to a very healthy profit status, including taking one facility from almost a $30,000 deficit to break even in just 12 months.
But, he would be the first to say his most valued achievements came as being a husband and father.
Ron married the love of his life Kimberly on September 15, 2007 at Hornsby Baptist Church. He loved life, whether it was playing football in the front yard with relatives, singing in choirs and quartets, cheering on the New York Yankees, hitting the golf course, or playing Little Leage baseball when he was younger, he knew how to enjoy life and helped those around him enjoy it as well.
Although he would be very happy in front of a bowl of chip beef gravy, nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family and no one made him happier than his wife Kim. Ron took his love of children and created a legacy of providing permanent, loving homes for abandoned, abused, and neglected children in the state of Tennessee with Kim, even building additional bedrooms to his home in order to provide more room for foster children needing a forever family.
He started being a foster parent in 2007, when Ron married Kim. During the 10 years of their marriage, they provided a foster home for over 20 children and adopted 10 of those children together.
He was a member of Hornsby Baptist Church.
Ron is survived by his wife Kim and children, Timothy Nield of Jackson, Anna (Eric) McIntyre of Somerville, Dylan (Jessica) Edmonds of Somerville, Matthew Edmonds, Evan Nield, Zach Nield, Jayden Nield, Dani Nield, Arabella Nield, Emma Nield, Ayla Nield, Stephanie Nield, Diamond Nield, Stacy Nield, all of Bolivar, Lindsey Edmonds of Selmer, Taylor Edmonds of Hornsby, Tiffany Fernald (Anthony) of Hot Springs, AR; four grandsons, WesLee, Colton, Nixon and Cameron, as well as two granddaughters, Miranda and Amanda.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Kaleiah Danielle Williams Nield, his parents Evelyn Louise and James David Nield, and his brother James Michael Nield.
At the time of his death, he also leaves behind two foster children (Vanessa and William) and a foreign exchange student (Dagmar).
