RON LUMSDEN

Henderson, TN: Mr. Ronald Ray Lumsden, age 81, passed away Friday June 6, 2025, at the West TN State Veterans Home in Humboldt.

He was born in Decatur, TX March 9, 1944, son of the late Sam Reed and Leata Mae Smith Lumsden. He grew up in Texas and was a 1962 graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas.

He joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served 20 years, retiring in 1983 as a Vietnam Veteran with the rank of ATC.

Ron then taught Electronics at State Tech at the Naval Base in Millington, TN. He later worked for the USPS as Maintenance Technician retiring in 2000.

He married Doris Privitt on May 25, 1965, and they were married for 60 years. After retirement they moved to Henderson.

He enjoyed watching football and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and reading. Later in life, Ron really enjoyed karaoke.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at TN State Veteran’s Home in Humboldt.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Lumsden; two sons, Eric Lumsden (Teresa) of Collierville, TN and Brian Lumsden (Haley) of Adairsville, GA; a daughter, Lisa Bass of Bartlett, TN; four sisters, Glenda Hammer of Dallas, TX, Nelda Bradshaw of Seattle, WA, Sammye Ritter (Robin) and Becky Whittle both of Tyler, TX; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Allred (Shawn), Jacob Bass (Carissa), Courtney Bass, Rachel Wiginton (Nathan), Ynis Minor, Jessica Daniels (Danny), Sydney and Landry Lumsden, Taylor Valentine and Ryker Minor; and ten great grandchildren, Lydia Watson, Willow Wiginton, Savannah Allred, Sophie McMahan, Shiloh Allred, Noah and Rylan Bass, Huxley, Declynn and Aniston Daniels.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Cory Steven Bass.
