Ronnie Campbell, 70, of Whiteville, passed away early Saturday morning, March 2, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was born in Somerville, TN to the late Frank Campbell and Agnes Rogers Campbell. He lived most of his life in Whiteville and attended Whiteville High School until his senior year. He graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1971.
Ronnie spent his childhood, teenage years and early adulthood beside his father, Frank, drilling wells for Campbell Well Drilling. He loved to tell stories of his time working with his beloved “Daddy”. He later worked for over 30 years in the asphalt industry, ending his career as a Superintendent for Apac Asphalt. He accepted the Lord into his life and was baptized at Midway Baptist Church. Ronnie was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved turkey hunting. He would visit his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter to hunt turkey on their farm until he was unable to travel. He found such peace in being there, doing what he loved most. He loved to sing and enjoyed karaoke. Most of all, he was a wonderful story-teller and enjoyed making people laugh.
He is survived by a daughter, Crystal Jones (Devon) of Murfreesboro; son, Jason Campbell of Bolivar; and daughter, Haley Campbell of Whiteville. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Jana Jones, who was the light of his life. Ronnie was very proud of all of his children and his granddaughter and loved them dearly. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Dickerson (Barry) of Parsons, TN. His nieces and nephews will always have memories of their fun Uncle Ronnie.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes Campbell; his brother, J.R. Campbell; his sister, Margie Doyle; infant brothers, Gary and Jerry Campbell; and niece, Kim Campbell.
