Roscoe E. Hampton, 89, of Bolivar passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widower of Graple Carter Hampton, who died on October 16, 2006, he worked over 40 years as a service repairman, having worked for Shappley's and Wheeler's Appliances, retiring close to 20 years ago. He was born November 25, 1927, in Madison County, son of the late James Berdon Hampton and Nannie Mae Landers Hampton and grew up in Toone, moving to Bolivar around 1952. He was in the US Army from November of 1950 to August of 1952, serving in the Korean Conflict and fighting on the front line. His hobbies included fishing and gardening, enjoying the produce that he grew.
Survivors include three daughters and their spouses, Phyllis Grantham (Ronnie), Donna Bomar (Don), all of Bolivar and Cathy Rider (Billy) of Florence, AL; a sister, Ann Dorris of Manchester, TN; a brother, Benny Hampton of Toone; five grandsons, Ron and Mike Grantham, Josh Bomar, Lee and Cole Rider; 6 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David and Alton Hampton and a grandson, Tyler Bomar. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Tyler Bomar Athletic Scholarship Fund, %CB&S Bank, Bolivar, TN.
