Roy Nolan Forrester departed this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 3 days. He was born in Eldorado, Illinois on February 11, 1944 the son of the late Roy Orlando and Alberta Tarrant Forrester. On February 12, 1965 he was united in marriage to Verna Shelby and in May 1968, they moved to Savannah, Tennessee.
Roy grew up in Hammond, Indiana. He had worked for General American Transportation Corporation where he worked on train cars. He then went to work for Owens Corning & Fiberglass and retired from Procter & Gamble in 1999 as an advanced technician. He was a member of the Graham United Methodist Church were he was a Trustee and served on many other committees and took part in other activities. He and his wife also helped to take care of Graham Cemetery. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World and a board member of RSVP. Roy coached a little league and minor league baseball team that Jimmy Shelby and Johnny Smith played a hand in coaching. His sons played on the teams as well. He really enjoyed coaching and remembered all the boys he coached. Roy was also on a church bowling team and he played golf with a group of men that enjoyed having fun.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Verna Shelby Forrester of Savannah, Tennessee; son, Derek Forrester of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Gina Morton, Casey Johnson, and Jessie Forrester; great grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Caitlyn Johnson, Awbrey Johnson, Addison Morton, and Alice Morton; and a sister, Beverly Shelby of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Matthew Forrester.
