Roy Newton was born October 13, 1947 in Tallahassee, FL the son of the late Travis O'Dell and Vera Bernice Montgomery Newton.
Mr. Newton was employed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation in Bethel Springs, where he retired as an asphalt foreman. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served his country honorably in the Vietnam Conflict, and was also active in the Tennessee National Guard. Watching sports while listening to his scanner was one of Mr. Newton's favorite pastimes. He was a loyal Florida State Seminole fan, but enjoyed all sports. He also liked to work in his vegetable garden, hunt, and barbeque on the grill for his family and friends. Mr. Newton attended the Solitude Freewill Baptist Church.
Mr. Newton departed this life on March 27, 2019 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 71 Years, 5 Months, 14 Days. He is survived by four daughters: Anna Sharr-Hosack and husband Bryan of Fellsmere, FL, Jamie Brown of Bethel Springs, TN, Jessica (Newton) Burton and husband Ben of Selmer, TN, and Tammy (Newton) Harville and husband Josh of Bethel Springs, TN; six grandchildren: Travis Hosack, Garrett Brown, Ryan Townsend, Kylie Harville, Dylan Harville, and Jasper Harville; a sister, Margaret Anna Toulson and husband Vernon of Vero Beach, FL; a brother, Travis Edward Newton of Ft. Pierce, FL; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Newton was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Michael Newton.
