Ruby Elizabeth Mathis Flurry

Ruby Elizabeth Lomax Mathis Flurry of Waynesboro, TN was born January 16, 1923 in Flatwoods, Tennessee, the daughter of the late John Thomas and Martha Tune Lomax. Mrs. Flurry was a retired employee of Genesco, a member of the Waynesboro Church of Christ in Waynesboro, Tennessee, and a member of LIPS.



Mrs. Flurry departed this life on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Wayne Care Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 8 Months, 6 Days.



She is survived by a son, Fred Allen Mathis Jr. and wife, Frances; a daughter, Janice Stooksberry all of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Brian Mathis, Wayne Gipson and wife, Bridget, Gwen Wilbanks and husband, Chris, Kim Sherrill and husband, Ricky; great-grandchildren, Chassidy, Cessaley,and Chandler Gipson, Nicholas and Greg Sherrill; Jake and Shelby Wilbanks; a brother, Dwight Lomax of OH; sisters, Johnnie Lomax of FL, Vertie Skelton of Waynesboro, TN; nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents, Mrs Flurry was preceded in death by husbands, Fred Allen Mathis, Sr. and Millard (Bud) Flurry; a brother, Fred Lomax; sisters, Mattie Morris, Delphia Pope.



Services will be Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Ronnie Pope and Bob Haggard officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitehead Cemetery in the Topsy Community near Waynesboro, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Brian Mathis, Wayne and Chandler Gipson, Greg, Nicholas, and Ricky Sherrill, Chris and Jake Wilbanks.
