Ruth Geneva Ayers of Starkville, MS, died peacefully at the Oktibbeha County Hospital - ICU on April 3, 2024, at age 94. She was born on December 9, 1929, in Ramer, TN, the daughter of Troy Benjamin Kirk and Lola Viola Wren Kirk. Her career as a seamstress allowed her to enjoy the clothing industry, as well as private tailoring from her home while living in Jackson, TN. After retiring, her favorite hobby was fishing on the Tennessee River from her back yard in Savannah, TN. Geneva also enjoyed cooking and being outside working in her garden and flower beds.
In addition to her parents, Geneva is preceded in death by a son, William Roger Ayers; friend and love of her life, William “Bill” Ayers; brother, William Eugene Kirk; sister, Nell Kirk Parks; infant sister, Lola Mae Kirk; and son-in-law, Jerry Jobe. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Ayers Jobe; and sisters, Ruby Jean Newell and Virginia Wolfe, also to include five granddaughters, Heather and Wes Boose; Lorie and Lake Baird; Haley and Josh Wooten; Ashley and Paul Campbell; and Jamie and Cory Lucius; twelve great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Dan Ayers, Ronnie Ayers, C.B. Baldwin, Randall Deaton, Jimmy Harbin, and Nelson Siler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Geneva’s memory to the American Heart Association.
