Mrs. Bishop, the wife of Mr. Morris "Scooter" Bishop, passed away early Monday morning, October 30, at Harris Grove Retirement Center near Whiteville.
She was born in Hardeman County, the daughter of the late Malvin Richard and Florence Vietta Irvin Earnest and lived most of her life in the Whiteville community. On Saturday, May 16, 1953, she was married to Mr. Bishop and together they raised four children, Tommy, Robin, Danny and Timmy.
Mrs. Bishop was primarily a homemaker who enjoyed working in the home and in her yard. She also had done work as a private duty home health assistant. She was a long-time member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she taught in the Girls' GA program. She also was a foster parent and supporter of the USO.
She leaves as her survivors, her husband of 64 years, Morris "Scooter" Bishop of Whiteville; two sons, Danny Bishop of Whiteville and Timmy (Chardale) Bishop of Whiteville; six sisters, Mary Jean Bishop of Bolivar, Sara Bishop and Joyce (Gene) Parks, both of Somerville, Judy Fortune of Oakland, Jacqueline (Mark) Ellington of Middle TN and Janie (Mark) Page of Fisherville; three brothers, Richard Earnest of Moscow, Douglas Earnest of Arkansas and Frankie Thompson of Whiteville; a sister-in-law, Joyce Earnest of Somerville; nine grandchildren, Renee' (Mike) Wages, Michelle Bishop, Keri (Ted) Taylor, Scott Hammons, Justin Bishop, Tyler Bishop, Dillon (Katie) Bishop, William Bishop and Daniel Bishop; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Bishop; her daughter, Robin Hammons; a sister, Sue Tucker; and a brother, Buddy Earnest.
