Ruth Estes

Ruth Sammons Estes ,79, passed away on March 14, 2011. She was born near Whiteville, TN on May 1, 1931 to William and Annie Stuart Sammons. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Maxine Kolb, Iris Freeman, and Harry Sammons. She lived in Memphis, TN until her marriage to Paul M. Estes on February 14, 1969. They lived in Auburn, AL for 30 years.Mrs. Estes was an active volunteer in local, state and national politics. She was also a knowledgeable and accomplished nurseryman. Her hobbies and recreations included reading, travel, and dining out. As a member of First Baptist Church, Michie, she served for years as chairman of the senior adult group, worked in VBS and served on several committees. She loved her church and lived a Christian life daily. Mrs. Estes is survived by her husband of 42 years, Paul Estes of Michie, TN, a daughter, Patti Brooks King of Delray, FL, a son Johnnie Brooks of Michie, a granddaughter, Lisa Hill Jarrett of Smyrna, TN, a great-grandson, Chase Hill of Arlington, TN and a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Hill of Arlington, TN. She was loved by all who knew her.
