RUTH ANN PHILLIPS
Finger, TN: Ruth Ann Chatman Phillips age 77, passed away December 12, 2020 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born July 17, 1943 in Poplar Bluff, MO, the daughter of the late Albert Frank and Irene Mae Tibbs Chatman. She graduated from Chester County High School. She married James Wade Phillips in 1977. They made their home in Finger.
She worked ten years at Salant & Salant and then Proctor & Gamble for twenty six and a half years. She worked on the assembly line and then the bake mix lab before retiring in 1998.
She enjoyed helping others and was always doing something for the church. She loved to volunteer.
She was a member of the Christ Community Church the Pentecostals of Henderson.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, James Wade Phillips of Finger; a daughter, Esther Phillips of Houston, TX; three stepdaughters, Judy Crowe of Finger, Yvonne Johnson of Henderson and Anita Hawkins of Sacramento, CA; two brothers, Albert Leroy Chatman (Robbie) of Nesbitt, MS and Walter William King (Nadyne) of Conroe, TX and a sister, Ivie Mae Chatman Rashall of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Angela Griffith, Larissa Barker, Tiffany Coles, Rebecca Gowens, Samantha Stark, Justin Coles, Wade Coles and Noah Phillips and eight great grandchildren, Jessie Griffith, Lauren Stark, Loralai Gowens, Casper Gowens, Audreanna Griffith, Abigal Stark, Olivia Gowens and Gideon Gowens.
She was preceded in death by two stepsons; John Phillips and Bob Phillips and a stepdaughter Irene Phillips.
Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Thursday December 17th at Goshen Methodist Church Cemetery at Coffeeville, Mississippi with Pastor Michael Rickenbaker officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service in January at the Christ Community Church in Henderson, day and time to be determined.
Memorial may be made to The Tupelo Children’s Mansion, P. O. Box 167, Tupelo, MS 38802.
