RUTH WELCH
Henderson, TN: Lula Ruth McDougal Welch age 83 passed away February 21, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born January 8, 1935 in Paden, MS the daughter of the late John Austin and Algie Mae Medlin McDougal. She graduated in 1952 from Paden High School. She grew up in a large Christian family in which the Lord was given top priority. They loved to sing and had two quartets. Her siblings were close and gathered regularly into their adult years. She married Leonard Welch March 23, 1968 and they moved to Henderson in 1971. She loved her children and grandchildren and taught them to love God. She was a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church.
Her interests included catering weddings and working in her yard planting flowers.
Mrs. Welch is survived by her husband, Leonard Wayne Welch of Henderson; three sons, David Allen Gregory (Sherry) of Jackson, Ricky Wayne Welch (Joanna) of Finger and Brian Lee Welch (Brandi) of Henderson and a daughter, Sharon Carol Godbey (Jeff) of Waynesboro, KY; ten grandchildren, Drew Gregory, Dirk Gregory, Jade Embrey, Chad Godbey, Kirk Godbey, Tyler Welch, Morgan Cooper, Blake Jaggars, Brett Welch and Bradley Holloway; great-grandchildren, Allana Hannah Davis, Dawson Gregory, Jace Embrey, Kennedi Gregory, Dayton Gregory, Triston Godbey, Noah Godbey, Izzy Godbey, Emma Godbey, Jackson Welch, Hadlee Cooper and Tatum Jaggars.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, James McDougal, Earl McDougal and Dan Winfield and seven sisters, Verda Mae Harper, Maxine Loveless, Bettie Joe Lambert, Hazel Harlow, Blanche Gray, Mary Sue Byram and Lela Gamble.
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2018 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Shane Connor and Ralph Culp officiating.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue beginning at 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday service time.
There will be a two hour visitation, Saturday February 24, 2018 at Cutshall Funeral Home, 302 North Pearl Street, Iuka, MS beginning at 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM with a graveside service at 2:30 PM at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery at Iuka, MS.
