Ruth Mae Young was born on April 18, 1920, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Herman and Annebelle Martin Yancey. She was united in marriage to Barney Young, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2006.
Mrs. Ruth lived in Hardin County most of her life and was a member of the East End United Methodist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She was also a member of the "Wednesday Ladies' Pizza Hut Club," while living in Savannah. Mrs. Ruth was a good seamstress, she loved arranging flowers, and she enjoyed making crafts and baking for her church's annual bazaar. She also enjoyed bowling in the Pizza Hut League.
Mrs. Ruth departed this life on January 27, 2014, at Life Care of Columbia Nursing Home in Columbia, Tennessee, at the age of 93 years, 9 months and 9 days.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Gail Adcock and her husband, John of Brentwood, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Tammy Young and Keith Averett; and five great-grandchildren, Jesse Young, Dylan Young, Cole Young, Gage Averett and Savanna Averett; and one brother, Glen H. Yancey of Clanton, Alabama.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Wayne Young; and two sisters, Agnes Bain and Elizabeth Prince.
