Sally Adeline Neill Casteel was born on March 28, 1926 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James T. and Alice Shelton Neill.
On January 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Wheeler L. Casteel, who preceded his wife in death on November 23, 2003.
Mrs. Casteel retired from the Hardin County School System, where she worked in the cafeteria and previously worked at Angelica. She wrote the Double Springs community news for the Savannah Courier for 50 years. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, White's FCE, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Women's Auxiliary. She loved baking cakes, crocheting, sewing, and embroidery. She often entered competitions in the fair and even won the state sewing competition for 5 years in a row. She enjoyed attending church and family reunions. Adeline loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Sally Adeline Neill Casteel departed this life on Saturday, December 9, 2023 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 97 years, 8 months, and 11 days.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Casteel of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Esther Godwin of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Tanya Rich and her husband Paul of Savannah, Tennessee and Amy Crider and her husband Kevin of Paducah, Kentucky; great grandchildren, Emily Easley and her husband Nicholas of Memphis, Tennessee, Will Rich and his wife Jasyman of Clarksville, Tennessee, Austin Rich and his wife Grace of Memphis, Tennessee, and Eli Crider and his wife Elise of Louisville, Kentucky; and 4 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Adeline was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy L. Casteel and brothers, H. B. Beckham and James Alfred Neill.
