Sammy "Sam" G. Gary

was born on September 1, 1948 in Hardin County, Tennessee the son of the late David Gary and Martha Ann Ruth Gary.

On December 24, 1970, he was united in marriage to June Anita McBride, who survives.

Sammy served his country proudly in the United States Army. While living in Scotts Hill, Tennessee, Sammy was a very skillful welder and worked for Savannah Machine Shop in Savannah, Tennessee, Car Wallace Welding in Decaturville, Tennessee, and J. M. Brasher Welding Shop in Scotts Hill, Tennessee, Sammy was an excellent athlete and loved to play softball. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, spending time on a tractor, making various things, and feeding birds, especially hummingbirds. Sammy loved the peacefulness of living on the river for 55 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and sister.

Sammy departed this life on Tuesday, September 3, 2026 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 78 years and 2 days.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, June Gary of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by his daughter, Cristal Nowlin of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Katie Chandler, John David Nowlin, and Luke Nowlin, all of Savannah, Tennessee; one great grandchild, Weylyn Chandler; and one sister, Brenda Gary of Savannah, Tennessee.

His hands may be at rest now, buth the love he built with those hands will last forever.

May he rest peacefully, knowing that he was deeply loved and that his life made a difference.

In addition to his parents, Sammy was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Gary and his grandparents, Morgan and Annabelle Ruth.
