Samuel Oren Littlejohn was born in Counce, Tennessee on January 22, 1931, the son of the late Arlis Frasier and Ivy Irene Blankey Littlejohn.
Samuel moved to Gary, Indiana from West Tennessee where he met his future wife. She would not date him unless he went to church with her on their first date. The rest was history.....
On December 20, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ruth (Helen) Gulledge, who survives.
Samuel was a foreman/supervisor, pipefitter and welder for Inland Steel. He was a member of the Pipefitter Union in East Chicago, Indiana. Samuel was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Savannah, Tennessee for 31 years, member of First Assembly of God Church in Merrillville, Indiana and member of Full Gospel Tabernacle in Gary, Indiana. Samuel held several positions; Board Member, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent for over 20 years, plumber, what ever was needed at the church he attended.
Samuel accepted the Lord as his Savior on June 18, 1952.
He departed this life on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in Knoxville, Tennessee at the age of 94 years, 11 months, and 19 days.
In addition to his loving wife of 73 years, Ruth Helen Littlejohn of Jacksboro, Tennessee, he is survived by his daughters, Brenda Chestnut and Lana Ham; grandchildren, Meghan Ham, Britton Rodiguez, Kaitlin Robertson, Candace Rodiguez, Samantha Payne, and Abby Schmid; great grandchildren, Easton, Hayden, Opelia, Addilyn, Jace, and one on the way, Oliver; and sister, Dorothy Motz.
In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Rodiguez; three brothers, Hubert Littlejohn, Charles Littlejohn, and Aaron Littlejohn; two sisters, Christine Nash and Mary Runyan; and one great grandchild, Grayson Phillips.
