Samuel Taylor (Bodie) Staggs was born July 4, 1956 in Hohenwald, Tennessee, the son of Gladys Marie Ray Staggs Sherrill of Clifton, TN who survives and the late Taylor Staggs. Mr. Staggs was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Staggs was pronounced dead-on-arrival at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, TN on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the age of 53 Years, 1 Month, 17 Days. Other than his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Brandi Carter of Lexington, KY; a grandson, Maddox Carter; a brother, John Elbert Staggs of Lawrenceburg, TN; six sisters, Freddie Gray, Betty Garrett, and Shirley Morrow all of Waynesboro, TN, Glenda Ponds of Adamsville, TN, Mary Jane Copeland of Savannah, TN, Faye Greer of Clifton, TN; nieces and nephews; a special companion, Donna Raines of Savannah, TN. In addition to his father, Mr. Staggs was preceded in death by grandparents, Leonard P. Staggs, Mary Frances Staggs, Charlie Ray, Jack Pulley, Dollie May Pulley. Services will be Monday, August 24, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Sis. Sandy Potts officiating. Burial will follow in the Culp's Chapel Cemetery at Perry Co., Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Michael and Robert Garrett, Jeremy Chase, Winston Davis, Brian Lineberry, James Davidson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie and Johnnie Staggs. Visitation will be Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Monday, August 24, 2009 from 8 am to service time at the funeral home.
