Sandra Gale Bowen was born on May 29, 1954, the daughter of the late Homer and Louise Harris Turnbow. On June 8, 1973, she was united in marriage to Freddie Bowen who survives.
Of all of Sandra’s working years, her favorite job was as a nursing home CNA. Her passion for caring for others was apparent in all aspects of her life, especially in the care she provided for her beloved daughter throughout her lifetime of prolonged illness.
Sandra was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. She always relied heavily on her faith as she faced the obstacles of this world including a battle with breast cancer, other health issues, and the loss of her parents whom she loved dearly. During these trials it was clear that she was tough, a strength she could only have received through her Savior. No matter what life brought, she consistently endured and remained positive.
Those who knew Sandra know she loved her precious dogs. She will be remembered as feisty and outspoken. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and have fun. Sandra also loved to see it snow. It seems she may have been aiming for a white funeral.
Sandra departed this life on January 19, 2026 in Jackson, TN, at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 21 days. In addition to her husband of 52 years Freddie Bowen, she is survived by her son Jeremy Bowen and wife Jana; her brother Doug Turnbow and wife Teresa; her niece Molly Cherry; her nephew Chris Turnbow; her uncle L.C. Harris and wife Judy; and her prized grandson Henry Bowen.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Hugh Arthur and Fanny Ada Depriest Turnbow; her maternal grandparents Richard Clarence and Lessie Mae Harris; her parents Homer and Louise Turnbow; and her beloved daughter Tonia Bowen.
Sandra is also survived by and was preceded in death by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom she cherished.
