Sandra Lee Callihan Stanfield was born on August 29, 1939, in Grayson, Kentucky. She died Saturday, June 13, due to complications stemming from her short but valiant fight against non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
After marrying Tom Stanfield on October 31, 1964, she followed him on his work assignments, keeping home and hearth together in a travel trailer. She settled into small-town life and was often father and mother to two children while Tom worked away from home. Some days were spent at the same school as the kids, where she was a classroom's answer as a dream substitute teacher.
She was a faithful member of Cypress Tank Church of Christ. She loved to read and passed that love to her children. A dyed-in-the-wool Kentuckian, she was very proud of her Kentucky Colonel certificate.
She was the daughter of the late Ollie and Inez Callihan of Grayson, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by a brother, Doug Callihan of Sacramento, California, and infant twin brothers, Harold and Forrest Callihan.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Tom Stanfield of Ramer. Her children are Leah Charlton and husband Tim of Smyrna, and Bryce Stanfield and wife Rhonda of Murfreesboro. Her grandchildren are Kelsie Ramdass and husband Sumeet of Murfreesboro, Ethan Stanfield and wife Katie Beth of Memphis, Mollie Stanfield, Grant Charlton, and Claire Charlton. Her great-granddaughter is Ariya Joye Ramdass. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Dale, of Grayson, KY, and two nephews, Bill Lewis of Grayson, KY and Chuck Lewis of Houston, TX.
