Sandra Kay (Tacker) Sweat

Aug 7, 1943 — Aug 2, 2026

Selmer, Tennessee

Sandra Kay Sweat passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family as she entered the presence of the Savior she faithfully served for many years. Born on August 7, 1943, in the Good Hope Community to the late Tad Tacker and Edna Mae Raines Tacker, Sandra lived a life marked by deep faith, boundless love for her family, and a heart for serving others. She was a graduate of Adamsville High School and went on to attend Draughon’s Business College in Memphis, Tennessee.

On April 5, 1963, Sandra married the love of her life, Kenneth Sweat. Together, they built a beautiful partnership of love and companionship that spanned 63 wonderful years. They worked hard, traveled across the country, and loved spending time camping and boating. Over the years, Sandra shared her talents across several roles, including serving as a church secretary, daycare director, and nursery worker, as well as working at Locke Brothers Lumber Company, McNairy County Hospital, and the ASCS Agriculture Office. Later in life, she worked alongside her husband as co-owner of Sweat Properties. Above all, Sandra adored entertaining family and friends in their home for any occasion. Hosting gave her the chance to shine as the true culinary expert she was—calling her a "good cook" simply wasn't enough. Her family will deeply miss her signature desserts, especially her famous apple dumplings, Swiss chocolate cake, and lemon pie.

Sandra’s faith was an integral part of her daily life, and she dearly loved her close-knit Sunday School class. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who delighted in holding and caring for every baby born into the family. Sandra truly did it all—balancing work, raising a family, and ensuring her home was always filled with warmth, love, and happiness. In every blessing, big or small, she lived by her favorite reminder: "It's a God Thing."

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Tad and Edna Mae Tacker, and an infant son, Charles Kenneth Sweat Jr.

Her enduring legacy of faith and love lives on through her surviving family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth Sweat; her two sons, Scott Sweat (Leann), and Kevin Sweat (Lora Lee); her five grandchildren, Shelby Garrett (Josh), Blake Sweat (Kelsey), Cameron Sweat (Madison), Abbie McKinnie (Kaleb), and Allison Sykes (Lucas); her four great-grandchildren, Levi Garrett, Luke Garrett, Lucy Sweat, and Emmaline Sweat; her two sisters, Sherry Tacker and Becky DeBerry (Russell); and a host of extended family members, cousins, and dear friends.

"Her faith was her compass, her family was her joy, and her life was a testament to God's goodness."
