Obituary

Sandra Kay Moore Thompson was born on February 25, 1953, in Selmer, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late Bernard Moore and Mary Alice Whitaker Moore.

Sandra was united in marriage to David Thompson, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2015. Together they shared many wonderful years, building a home centered on love and family.

A woman of strong faith, Sandra was a devoted member of First Christian Church in Selmer for more than 60 years. In recent years, she attended Oakland Baptist Church in Corinth, Mississippi.

Sandra was a hardworking and dedicated woman. She worked as a machinist at Tyrone Hydraulics before becoming a cook at The Elms Restaurant and Country Kitchen. Cooking was truly her love language, and she found great joy in preparing meals for those she loved. She later retired as a Quality Engineer for Automatic Machines, where she was respected for her knowledge, dependability, and strong work ethic.

Sandra appreciated the beauty of God's creation. She enjoyed rock hounding, collecting seashells from the beach, gardening, and watching classic old movies. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures and will be remembered for her gentle spirit and caring heart.

Above all, Sandra loved her family. Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother brought her life's greatest joy. Whether sharing a home-cooked meal or spending time together, she treasured every moment with those she loved. Her unconditional love and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of her family.

She departed this life on July 31, 2026, at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 6 days. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Moore of Farmington, Mississippi; David Thompson of Selmer, Tennessee; Laura Thompson of Lansing, Michigan; and Sarah Thompson of Adamsville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Hayley Morris and husband, Braxton, of Farmington, Mississippi, and Cole Childers and wife, Maddie, of Corinth, Mississippi; four great-grandchildren, Brenalee Morris, Braxlee Morris, Emslee Morris, and Holden Childers; three brothers, Stanley Moore, Anthony Moore, and Sammy Moore; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jo Moore.

Sandra leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, hard work, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will continue to bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
