Mrs. McNeil age 102, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning, October 2, 2011, at Summit View of Faragut.
Born in Toone, TN, October 31, 1908, she was the daughter of Tillman J., Sr. and Abigail Marsh Keller. She was the widow of Hall McNeil, Sr., who passed away June 25, 1980. Living in Toone most of her life she spent about 10 years in Jackson, TN , and lived in Knoxville these last 12 years. She was a former member of the Association of the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA), the Tuesday Literary Club, a member of Farm Bureau since 1961, the Toone Senior Citizens and the Ruritan Club. She loved gardening and working with flowers, and travelling with the senior citizens. Mrs. McNeil taught school, farmed and was a retail business owner; and was a faithful member of the Toone Baptist Church while residing there.
Survivors include 2 sons Hall McNeil, Jr. and wife Pamela and Mack McNeil and wife Bettye all of Knoxville; a son-in-law, James Garner of Lakeland, TN; a sister, Ruth Clutts of Memphis; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Garner, 4 brothers, Tillman, Jr. (Till), Marvin, Joe and Frank Keller.
