Sarah Bertie Phillips

Sarah Bertie Moore Phillips of Waynesboro, TN was born July 17, 1921 in Wayne Co., Tennessee, the daughter of the late Horace and Lillie Bell Shaffer Moore. She was united in marriage to Sam William Phillips on November 13, 1937 and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1980.



Mrs. Phillips was a retired store owner and was a member of the Waynesboro Church of God in Waynesboro, Tennessee.



Mrs. Phillips departed this life on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 89 Years, 7 Months, 17 Days.



She is survived by a son, Sam Phillips Jr. and wife, Ann of Hixson, TN; a daughter, Flettie Jones and husband, Bobby of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Eddie Wayne Jones, Bobby Gene Jones, Philip Jones, Shaen Phillips, Amy Phillips Jackson, Robin Phillips, Marty Phillips, Holly Phillips Wilson; 16 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren; a brother, C.F. Moore of Waynesboro, TN; nieces and nephews.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by a sister, Willidean Griggs.



Services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Casey Jones and Laverne Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors. Pallbearers will be Eddie Jones, Bobby Gene Jones, Philip Jones, Shaen Phillips, Robin Phillips, and Marty Phillips.



Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 4 pm to 9 pm and Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
