Sarah Hurst Shaw
Memphis: Sarah Jane Hurst Shaw, age 88 died Saturday night July 4th at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
Mrs. Shaw was born and reared in the Laurel Hill Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Cleve Young Hurst and Gracie Belle Russom Hurst. She attended school at Phillips School House. She married James Luke Shaw and they made their home in Memphis all their married life. She worked for Wonder Snack Foods in Memphis for over 30 years. She was a member of Frayser Baptist Church. Mr. Shaw preceded in death in 2005.
She is survived by two sons; Clifford Hurst of Horn Lake, MS and Jerry Hurst of Memphis, two daughters; Linda Lewis of Memphis and Patricia Boone of Horn Lake, a step son Douglas Shaw of California and a step daughter Deborah Hurst of Horn Lake, three grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and six step great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers; Kermit Hurst, Kenneth Hurst, and Milton Hurst, and a sister Agnes Rowland.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Cave Springs Cemetery with Ronnie Geary officiating.
There will be no local visitation.
