Selma Baugus Newton
Selma departed this life on September 22, 2018 at the age of 89 years and 2 days. She was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on September 20, 1929, to the late Joe and Carrie Murphy Robbins.
Selma was united in marriage to Herman Baugus, who preceded his wife in death. She was later united in marriage to Hardy Newton, who also preceded her in death.
Selma worked at Whites School for 2 years, River Heights Manufacturing for 5 years, and retired at Browns Shoe after working there for 16 ½ years. She also volunteered at Park Rest Nursing Home for almost 7 years.
She leaves one son Mike and wife Deborah Baugus, grandchildren Michael Baugus, Alex (Josh) Mascagni, and Kaleb Byrd. Selma also leaves behind one brother Thomas Glen (Sonny) Robbins from Iron City, Tennessee and five sisters Velma Smith of Collinwood, Tennessee, Emma Moore of Florence, Alabama, Jewell Holt of Ford City, Alabama and Kathleen Foust and Charlene Davis both of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Rev. C.M. Robbins and Waco Robbins.
