Shelby Leon Vincent

Mr. Shelby Leon "Bull" Vincent of Saulsbury departed this life at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 25 days Tuesday morning, February 19, 2013 at his home.



A lifelong resident of Saulsbury, Mr. Vincent was born May 25, 1936 to the late Robert Cecil and Perle Black Vincent. A 1954 graduate of Middleton High School, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Stewart, who survives, October 5, 1956. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in 1958 and was medically discharged with honor in 1959. His career included working at National Distillery Truck Lines, Vincent Auto & Upholstery Shop, and as a mechanic at International Harvester. He was a Christian and a member of West Memorial Baptist Church in Saulsbury.



He approached each endeavor and challenge with tenacity. His openness and willingness to share a glass of tea or the shirt off his back, was well known by all who came in contact with him.



A few of his recent joys came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and each of their interest. Mission trips, church activities and music were always a source of joy and comfort. Other sources of pleasure included tractor collection and restoration, an appreciation of horses, his canine buddies, "Jack" and "Hot Rod," and his life-long friends.



In addition to his wife, Mr. Vincent is survived by his children, Teresa Hope Madison-Morony and son-in-law Richard K. Morony of Carterville, Illinois, Michael Leon Vincent and daughter-in-law Pat (Pulliam) Vincent of Toone, and Stewart Kyle Vincent and daughter-in-law Jennifer Rehberg Vincent of Saulsbury; grandchildren, Axel Vincent Madison and wife Amber (Roberts) Madison of Carbondale, Illinois, Page Elizabeth Madison of Nacogdoches, Texas, Nathan Michael Vincent of Toone, and Elizabeth Anne Vincent, Joshua Stewart Vincent and MiKayla Reh Vincent, all of Saulsbury; a step grandchild, Robert Morony and his wife Ave of UAE; and great-grandchildren, Oakley Robert Madison and Ryker Reed Madison, twins, of Carbondale, Illinois. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Billy Norman Vincent.
