Sheree Smiddy Mott

March 21, 1966 — September 17, 2025

Middleton Tennessee

I was born on March 21, 1966, in Shelby County, Tennessee to Sterling Gene and Sarah Anna Smiddy. My father named me Sheree Evonne.

My brother, Bob, was adopted almost 2 years prior to my birth. My parents did not think that they could have children of their own. I was an unexpected surprise, arriving with the best of intentions.

My childhood was peppered generously with good friends and wonderful memories. My first boyfriend was Alfred in kindergarten. Our teacher made us homemade play-doh for art and cinnamon sugar toast with milk in the little red cartons for our afternoon snack.

My favorite teacher was Dale Lowery in 5th grade. She was a lovely woman who made me believe that I could do anything. High school was more difficult but I made friends with people who are still in my life to this very day and for that I am truly grateful. I have extremely long-standing relationships. These relationships are my family. I will always carry them in my heart, wherever I go. I have God to thank for my many blessings. He has always answered my prayers, regardless of what I needed to ask Him for.

On November 10, 2000, I married Robbie Mott. What a pair we have been. We are polar opposites on most every thing that I can think of. And yet, somehow we have made it through. We love each other even through the hard days and we don't pretend about anything. We had Sarah Alysse on March 21, 2003. She has been a gift to help me understand how much my mother loved me. She has been my joy and my greatest teacher. I could never express the love I have for her, this child who shares my birthday. But now I understand what my mother meant when she would say, "I love you more than you will ever know."

I have been predeceased by my parents, Sterling and Sally. I have been predeceased by my brother Bob, along with grandparents, aunts and uncles. I leave my husband Robbie, my daughter Sarah Alysse, my son Evan (Danielle), and my daughter Emily. I leave my dear friends who have been with me for the majority of my life, my chosen family. I leave grandchildren, Caitley, Dallas, and Chance Mott, along with nieces, nephews, and brother and sister in laws and cousins. I would also like to thank three of my bonus sisters that cared for me through it all: Mechele Fuqua, Richell Martin, and Donnita Craft.

I have enormous gratitude for all of the love that has been shown to me and my family. All the family and friends who have done so many things to show their love, concern, and caring is something that will always be near and dear to our hearts. I am never far away and my love is with you always.
