Sherry Marks was born February 8, 1959, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the daughter of Barbara Hanback and the late Alfred Hanvey.

She was united in marriage to Robert Marks, with whom she shared a loving life and family.

Sherry was a woman whose kindness, generosity, and selfless spirit touched the lives of everyone around her. She had a heart for others and found great joy in participating in missionary work, giving of herself freely and always looking for ways to help those in need. Her giving nature was simply a part of who she was.

She loved the beauty of creation, especially the peaceful shores of the beach and the majesty of the mountains. She was also deeply proud to be an American and held a genuine love for her country. Her patriotism was something she carried with great pride.

Sherry also had a tender heart for animals and formed a particularly special bond with her pet turtle, Fred, who was a beloved part of her life for more than 21 years. Those who knew Sherry will remember not only the things she did, but the warmth, compassion, and love she brought into the lives of others.

Sherry Marks departed this life on September 21, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 67 years, 7 months, and 13 days.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara Hanback; her husband, Robert Marks of Iron City, Tennessee; three sons, Robert Marks Jr. and wife Lauren Michelle of Collinwood, Tennessee, Derek Marks and wife Taryn of Collinwood, Tennessee, and Micheal Marks and husband Brandon of Franklin, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Poppy Rose Marks, Grayson Marks, Grissom Marks, and Greenleigh Marks; three sisters, Brenda, Donna, and Angie; two brothers, Gary and wife Rhonda, and Dennis and wife Sherry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Hanvey; a grandchild, Dolly June Marks; a sister, Linda; and two brothers, Kenny and Kevin.

Sherry will be lovingly remembered for her generous heart, her compassion for others, her love of family, her service to others, and the many quiet ways she made the world around her a little kinder. She gave of herself without hesitation, loved deeply, and found beauty in the people, places, and simple things that meant the most to her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know and love her.
