Sherry Gaye Murphy was born October 24, 1963 at Florence, Alabama, the daughter of the late Seab Jr. and Rhoda Laveda Gillis Murphy. She was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee. She departed this life on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 62 years, 1 month, 4 days.

Sherry grew up in Collinwood, Tennessee and lived most of her life there. She graduated Collinwood High School in 1981 and working until she became disabled.

She is survived by her son, Alex Murphy of Waynesboro, Tennessee; brother, Jerry Murphy and his wife, Lesha of Dora, Alabama; niece, Faith Morris of Indian Springs, Alabama; aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends, and her 3 furry babies, Loki, Maverick and Zuul.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Gina Berry Murphy; paternal grandparents, Seab and Sally Brown Murphy; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Susan Rich Gillis.

Services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Greg Eaton and Cameron Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Cemetery, Cypress Inn, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, Tennessee.
