Sherry Rowland

April 30, 1949 — July 18, 2012

Mrs. Rowland died early Wednesday morning at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

A native of Walnut, MS, she was the oldest of 6 children born to the late Rev. William Ellis Eaton and Norma Violet Owen Eaton. Spending her younger years in Tippah County, she was a 1967 graduate of Walnut High School. She attended Blue Mountain College briefly before marrying Mr. Tommy Wayne Rowland on December 22, 1967. They were married 39 years before his passing on March 27, 2007.

Mrs. Rowland worked with her husband in building Rowland Safety and Supply from the ground up. She was a member of the New Union Baptist Church near Medon where she played the piano for many years and also travelled with the church's singing group. Music was a big part of her life. As a young lady, she sang with her twin sisters in competitions at local fairs. Later, she became a member of the Bolivar First Baptist Church. Mrs. Rowland was a very family oriented person, making all of her family, especially her grandchildren, the "center of her world."

She leaves as her survivors a daughter, Lisa Rowland Burnell and her husband, Tony, of Grand Valley Lakes; two sons, Eric Rowland and his wife, Candace, of Jackson and Nick Rowland and his wife, Amanda, of Humboldt; 3 sisters, Jean Mattox and husband, Johnny, of Kossuth, MS, June Collins and husband, Colin, of New Albany, MS, and Jennifer Eaton, of Walnut; 2 brothers, Tommy Eaton and Johnny Eaton and wife, Pat, all of Walnut; 7 grandchildren, Luke and Zac Ormerod; Blake, Lance, EmaKate, Dayton and Allison Rowland; and her mother-in-law, Faye Rowland of Walnut.

In addition to her husband and parent, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Roy Rowland.
