Shirley Alexander Brien
Jackson: Shirley Mae Bain Alexander Brien, age 77, died Sunday morning October 18, 2015 at Jackson General Hospital.
Mrs. Brien was born March 30, 1938 and grew up in the Five Points Community in Madison County, the daughter of the late Carl Magellan and Esther Delena Sells Bain. She graduated from Pinson High School in 1956. She married Joe Alexander in 1955 and they made their home in Henderson. She worked at Mosier’s Pharmacy and later as a teacher’s assistant in the special education department at East Chester Elementary until 2000.
Mr. Alexander died in 1993.
She married Robert Brien in 2000 and they made their home in Jackson.
Mrs. Brien served as a Chester County Commissioner for six years. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson.
She is survived by her husband Robert G. Brien of Jackson, two children; Stacy Alexander and wife Melissa of Henderson and Starla Teague and husband Michael of Henderson, two step-children Buddy Brien of Milan and Wanda Pevahouse of Jackson, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers; William Leon Bain of Medina, Ronald Bain of Jackson, Jerry Bain of Henderson and two sisters Joyce Hart Brewer of Henderson and Patricia Hodges of Beech Bluff.
She was preceded in death by a brother Larry Bain and a sister Syble Holder.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Troy Kilzer, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel beginning at 5:00 PM Tuesday.
